Welcome to the Warframe Steel Path Beginner Guide. Today, we'll complete a Steel Path Exterminate mission with a basic build, in under 3 minutes.
Steel Path is tough. Enemies hit harder and have more health, shields, and armor. Normal tactics won't work here, so we need to adapt.
First of all, as you can see, I stay on the move to avoid damage as much as possible.
In Steel Path, enemies can overwhelm you quickly. They deal high damage, so I use partial shield gating to survive. This gives me a brief period of invulnerability when my shields drop, helping me survive damage which would normally kill my Warframe.
The way this works is, I equip an augur mod on my secondary weapon, which makes it so that I instantly get some shields whenever I cast an ability, and therefor, my Warframe can't die for 0.33 seconds after its shields break, and also, you can't die if you have even 1 shield point, unless a toxin status effect hits you, but I am not facing any toxic enemies in this mission.
in addition, I use 3 mods and an arcane which help me survive in the middle of a fight using my shield pool, so I keep an eye on my shields whenever I'm taking damage as well. And in addition to all of that, I use the mod Rolling Guard, which gives me 3 seconds of invulnerability and immunity to status effects, and it also removes all the status effects which are on my Warframe, whenever I press shift to roll.
This setup which allows me to survive in the steel path works on any Warframe, but you can also use specific Warframes which have special abilities which allow them to not need all that, like rhino or revenant. but in this video, I'm showing you a very basic build, which is in the end of the video.
Now, the reason I am dealing this amount of damage is thanks to Volt’s Shock Trooper Augment, and because I'm using Broken War, a weapon with high base critical chance and critical damage, and also because I am using the right mods and Arcanes for this. And don't worry, they are all cheap, you just need to know what upgrades to use, and you will be able to do the same things as I am doing in the video. If you want a Steel Path build that lets you deal even more damage with even cheaper upgrades, check out my Khora build for beginners.
As you can see, Steel Path is not that difficult when you know what you're doing. the Steel Path missions work in the same way as normal missions, the only difference is that the enemies have high damage and high effective hitpoints, which, in Warframe, is not really a big problem, especially when you get strong equipment and strong upgrades for that equipment. you just need to use the right build, which you can usually easily find on the internet or even just by asking someone in game.
In longer Steel Path missions, Steel Path Acolytes will appear. They drop 2 Steel Essence on death. 4 if you use a Resource Booster. They are honestly not difficult to deal with, even with this build right here. Just be careful, as they have special abilities, they apply status effects with their weapons, and they are tougher and deadlier than normal enemies. But basically, just deal with them quickly and make sure you don't die, that's basically it. Good luck.
By the way, you can buy all the upgrades that I'm about to show, which you don't have, on warframe.market
Now, let's look at the build that makes this possible.
First of all, I use Broken War, which has high crit stats, and I use these mods. You can make this build without using any Formas.
I also use Volt with this build, for which you also don’t need any Formas, but you will need an Orokin Reactor.
The 4 mods in the middle, as well as Arcane Aegis are to increase my survivability, Blind Rage and Narrow Minded are to make Volt’s second ability more effective, and Shock Trooper is to increase the melee weapon’s damage. Also, I have equipped Dexterity Arcanes on my ranged weapons to increase my melee combo duration, and I use the Zenurik focus school to never run out of energy.
If you're new to the steel path, I recommend you to use Panzer Vulpaphyla with these mods.
The most important mods are Martyr Symbiosis, Viral Quills, Panzer Devolution and Fetch.
